About

One true and surprising thing a day. That is the whole plan.

Fun Fact of the Day is a daily habit for curious people. Each morning we post one fact from space, animals, food, words, numbers, history, the planet or science, with a short explanation of why it is true.

How a fact gets in

• It has to be something a reader can check, so every post ends with a Check it yourself note.
• We prefer facts from sources such as space agencies, geological surveys, museums and dictionaries.
• If experts disagree or the claim is only a popular story, we leave it out or say so plainly.
• Rounded numbers are rounded honestly, and we say about when we mean about.

When we get one wrong

We will. Facts change and people make mistakes. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix the post.

The shop

The best facts are good enough to wear, so the shop has tees, mugs, hats and more. Each is made on demand.

Who runs this

Fun Fact of the Day comes from One Stop Enterprises, LLC of Springboro, Ohio.
